British Craft: A Bright Future

British craft has undergone something of a resurgence in recent years, and this shows no signs of slowing down!

At The Edward Alexander Group, we are delighted about this and are doing all we can to make sure the trend continues here in the UK and around the world. Consumers of design have long been discerning in their choices, but never more so than now. There is more emphasis than ever on ethical, sustainable design, and design with provenance, relevance and authenticity. This is exactly what our brands stand for, and so we are thrilled to be front and centre of this movement.

The brands of The Edward Alexander Group all have a rich heritage rooted in traditional British craftsmanship, and they have all embraced new technologies and methods to keep their wonderful old traditions alive and well into the 21st century and beyond.

A perfect example of British craft with a solid provenance, is Gainsborough.

All Gainsborough’s fabrics are designed in-house and woven onsite, just as they have been for over 115 years.

Collier Webb cast all their superbly hand-crafted interior hardware at their own, family run foundry in the South of England

Every aspect of production, from initial design, pattern making and casting to finishing and colouring happens here.

The Edward Alexander Group is proud to champion British craft and our aim is to put it in bright lights onto the world stage, where it belongs!
