George Spencer Designs have collaborated with award-winning textile designers A Rum Fellow to create KINDRED – a collection of printed fabrics.
Kindred provided the perfect opportunity for A Rum Fellow, well-known for their artisanal woven textiles, to explore traditional print techniques including wood block, screen and etched rotary printing.
Tim Walters, MD of George Spencer Designs worked closely with A Rum Fellow to create this striking collection which offers five printed designs in co-ordinating colourways. The base cloths were specially woven to bring texture and handle to the printed cotton and linen fabrics.
The designs feature bold, geometric patterns representing a new visual language inspired by A Rum Fellow co-founder, Caroline Lindsell’s work with artisan communities around the world, where textiles often embody local cultural traditions and folk tales. Kindred brings the visual interpretation of a new global tribe to life.
“It feels like it has got a familiar tribal aesthetic but we wanted to create something new.”
Dylan O’Shea – A Rum Fellow
Combining linen and cotton, the collection includes three weights of fabric, all suitable for upholstery, curtains and cushions. The patterns range from large to small-scale and the colours are inter-related making them ideal for layering.
“It’s about layering and mixing, not being scared to not have everything completely matching and co-ordinated.” Tim Walters – MD, George Spencer Designs
The range is the perfect addition to George Spencer Designs offering of fabrics, trim and wallpaper. The modern tribal prints are ideal for today’s bold, contemporary interiors.
